OUR BREEDING PHILOSOPHY
At Wing And A Prayer Shorthairs (WAAP), we selectively breed for temperament, sound conformation, field performance, and above all, health.
We pursue AKC conformation Chamnpionships because we believe the conformation champion represents an important goal of responsible breeding, a dog that exemplifies the breed standard in structure, proportions, movement and overall appearance.
We also test our dogs in AKC and NAVHDA field events to demonstrate their hunting abilities and performance in the field.
HEALTH TESTING
We health test our dogs and report their results to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). We follow the health testing requirements established by our parent club, the German Shorthaired Pointer Club Of America.
NUTRITION AND PUPPY CARE
We spare no expense in providing our dog's
with what we believe is the highest quality nutrition, including a raw food diet. Our puppies receive a variety of raw foods before being weaned onto Orijen Amazing Grains Large Breed Puppy Food.
Although no breeder can guarantee that a puppy will never become ill, we are committed to providing our puppies with excellent nutrition, careful attention, and the best possible start in life.
WHAT SETS US APART?
We strive to offer the very best through carefully selected bloodlines, proven parents, thoughtful breeding decisions, quality nutrition, and hands on puppy care. Our goal is to give every puppy the strongest possible foundation for a healthy, happy life.
Healthy joints are crucial in sporting group dogs.
"Sharon, I don't need a show dog, and I'm not planning to finish my dog as an AKC Master Hunter. Why would I choose one of your dogs?"
Because titles are evidence of achievement in specific areas. They can demonstrate qualities such as trainability, biddability, and adherence to the breed standard. Above all, we want our dogs to be outstanding companions, whether they spend their days in the field, in the show, or with their families at home on the couch.
